"On a rapid roll, this taro-based doughnut truck that expanded to Kaka‘ako from its homebase on Kaua‘i has opened a five-month pop-up at Ward Villages’ old Pa‘ina Cafe space. Holey Grail’s first brick-and-mortar features an open kitchen that lets the hungry see doughnut makers and baristas at work. A permanent shop is planned for the nearby Ae‘o building, home to Whole Foods and Rinka Japanese restaurant, while the doughnut truck will roam."
"The gist: Kauai's famous taro donut pop up serves fresh, hot fluffiness straight from a bright yellow food truck. The food: This brother-sister duo brings their hand-crafted, deep-fried donut-making craft to Kaka’ako. Cult-like followers swear by the “L&L” Meyer lemon-lime donut with Tahitian lime curd, and the Chocolate haupia is also at the top of the list of must-haves. Coffee and tea donut pairings are also available."
"The flavors I believe change weekly so keep your eyes peeled for all the different unique donuts!. These are taro based ..."
"Every time I go there or call they're always sold out of almost every flavor. So unless u get up early..."
"Modo Hawai’i is located in the Mitsuwa Marketplace on the second floor of the International Marketplace, Waikiki. Mochi donuts are hard to find in the U.S, but are widespread in Hawaii. Mochi donuts are a bit chewier than regular donuts, but are still delicious!"
"A family member picked up donuts from Donut King to try for the first time and I must say, I was not disappointed!. From Donut King, we got an assortment ..."

"After all that deliciousness, make pit stops as suits your interests and on the way back down to Honolulu, see if there’s time to squeeze in the Dole Pineapple Plantation off of Highway 99 which closes at 5PM. It’s a little bit of a tourist trap, but still fun just the same, especially for the kids. The pineapple maze is lots of fun as is the Pineapple Express that takes you around the grounds. Most likely you won’t have much time though, so I’d recommend checking out the Dole store and indulging a bit more with their pineapple soft serve."
"As nighttime soon approaches it’s time to make your way through central Oahu down the Kamehameha HWY towards Waikiki but not without one last stop at theDole Plantation. I mean, sure some may say this is a “tourist” trap but it was still worth the stop if anything just for the Dole Whip Icecream!. Did you know… In 2008, Guinness World Records named Dole’s Pineapple Garden Maze the world’s largest maze made up of 14,000 colourful Hawaiian plants. Operating hours are 9:30 am – 5:30 pm."
"The Dole Plantation is on your way to the North Shore but doesn’t open until mid-morning, so you’ll get a late start if you do the tour here. You can take a peek at parts of the property before it opens, though. Oahu is a popular filming site for TV shows and movies, and you can plot out a path to see locations for your favorites on the North Shore, like the survivor's beach and the Others camp from “Lost.”"
"Park Description and Highlights: This local secret provides a beautiful place for walking, hiking, and picnicking thanks to its position on the slopes overlooking Honolulu and the surrounding valleys. Suggested Visit: The Waʻahila Ridge Trail. A spectacular ridge hike on the south shore, but don’t underestimate it."
"Ask a bunch of locals about the International Marketplace, and it may draw mixed reviews. Long story short, the old International Marketplace was more akin to a Polynesian craft market, while the new International Marketplace, renovated and opened in 2016, features vendors like Rolex and Tesla. Regardless of your opinion on the stores themselves, the Marketplace as a venue is beautiful, with stone walking paths alongside manicured gardens underneath large banyan trees (including a tree house)."
"As part of the Ward Village complex, South Shore Market is a place to relax and hang out while shopping. Surrounded by a modern aesthetic, it offers a local vibe, the same feeling as being in a small city. Despite that, Ala Moana Park is just across the street, and Ala Moana beach is a few steps away."
"Ethel’s Grill, established in 1978, delivers large servings of Japanese and local grinds for under $10. Visitors, locals and even some celebrities (look for the late Anthony Bourdain’s photo on the wall) head to this hole-in-the-wall for dishes like the amazing seared ahi tataki, taco rice and mochiko or garlic chicken, with prices ranging from $9 to $15, sides included. Warning: Ethel’s is cash-only and closes at 2 p.m."
"In an industrial neighborhood by the shipping docks, hole-in-the-wall Ethel's Grill is an ode to sumo wrestlers (check out the pictures on the wall—and the portion sizes) and the mishmash of cultures that make Hawaii so great. There’s a hamburger steak, topped with grated daikon to cut through the richness; a kimchee poke bowl; and the playful taco rice (incidentally, an Okinawan concoction). Don’t ask, just get it."
"One of Honolulu's greatest hole-in-the-wall restaurants, Ethel's serves Japanese diner fare with an Okinawan bent and an overlay of Hawaii. This bustling, cash-only place has 24 seats and six parking spots, and... Top ChoiceHawaiian in Honolulu"
