"Options include Manna (American cuisine featuring local, regional and American ingredients), Catch Modern Seafood (seafood with a modern twist), Caprice Bistro or Brasserie du Soleil (authentic French bistros), The Basics (gourmet Southern comfort food), Rx and Pembroke’s (seasonal farm-to-table menus). Taste Carolina Gourmet Food Tours even offers walking culinary tours of downtown restaurants and markets."
"Boasting two locations across town, Catch is a modern seafood restaurant that James Beard award-winning Chef Keith Rhodes and his wife Angela opened in 2006, and they have been serving outstanding seafood ever since. Striving to support North Carolina’s organic farmers, local fisheries, and sustainable fishing practices, Chef Keith Rhodes presents a menu of produce caught and farmed off the Cape Fear Coast. On the menu you will find creative dishes such as Red Miso Glazed Scottish Salmon served with wok-seared “drunken” rice noodles, bean sprouts, fresh coriander, and Thai basil, Cajun-fried North Carolina Oysters with Mindoro Blue Cheese Slaw and Texas Pete Aioli, and Pan-Roasted Oriental Back Fin, and Lump Crab Cakes served with White Truffle Mash and Pamlico Shrimp in a Cognac Bisque."
"Yelp users rank The Peppered Cupcake as the #1 place to eat in Wilmington NC. Not just the #1 bakery but the #1 overall restaurant. That is mighty high praise. All cupcakes are made from scratch but the philosophy here is to push the boundaries of what is considered a cupcake."
"This place wowed us with their really creative cupcake flavors, I walked in and wish I could've tried every one. We got the rose water and black velvet...."
"Did you know that one of the only places in the world where you can see the Venus flytrap growing in its native environment is at Carolina Beach State Park?. See the rare Venus Flytraps for FREE and learn about one of the world’s most unique carnivorous plants!"
"We checked in at the Hampton Inn Wilmington/Downtown and got changed into our bathing suits for some fun in the sun at Wrightsville Beach, locatedjust15 mins away from Downtown Wilmington. It’s a spacious, clean beach with clear blue waters and is one of the most environmentally friendly beaches in the state. We collected shells to take home as a souvenir and our daughter played by the shore until it was time for dinner at Oceanic Restaurant attached to Crystal Pier. *Be sure to check back here for my #FoodieFriday review of our dining experience at this restaurant."
"After our short drive over from Wrightsville Beach, we started our city exploration with a self-guided walking tour of Wilmington. We downloaded the Wilmington.tours app and followed the path for the Civil War tour. There are 13 downtown stops on the tour and five stops within driving distance of downtown. The downtown walking portion of the tour takes about two hours at a leisurely pace, and each stop has an audio recording and transcript to go with it."
"Consider staying an extra day or two to explore the nearby beach towns of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach. Besides our bustling riverfront and city scene, there’s surfing, fishing, paddle boarding, nature cruises, piers and boardwalks, an aquarium, and a historic fort. It’s everything you love about our beautiful beaches, plus a city, too."
"This 33-acre park features the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex with 18 tennis courts and a clubhouse, multiple outdoor basketball courts, a large dog park equipped with a canopy and benches, and a large playground suitable for children of all ages. In addition, Empie Park also offers shelters with picnic tables, horseshoe pits and even has part of the Gary Shell Cross City Trail going around the park."
