"Another chain popular throughout mainland Europe, Casa is a homeware store more suited to finished properties. The store sells common household goods such as towels, throws and kitchenware, and is also a good place for gifts. The nearest British equivalent would be somewhere between Ikea and Habitat – Casa is positioned at the mainstream and inexpensive end of the scale."
"Occupying the site of the Moorish citadel, the Portas do Sol garden proffers utterly majestic views over the Rio Tejo and the great spread of plains emanating from it. The garden’s shady walks make a fine option for a picnic or afternoon linger. It's particularly spectacular at sundown."

"This charming spot is part cafe, part wine bar, and celebrates all things Lusitano (Portuguese). This is the place to come for doces conventuais (convent sweets; €1 to €1.20) or a good selection of Portuguese..."

"Take a day trip to the nature park Serras de Aire and encounter something truly from another time. Imagine walking amongst the dinosaurs as you witness the world’s largest and most important collection of sauropod footprints. For a short diversion from your pilgrimage, we recommend visiting this fascinating site."
"Wrapped in splendour and mystery, the Knights Templar held enormous power in Portugal from the 12th to 16th centuries, and largely bankrolled the Age of Discoveries. Their headquarters sit on wooded slopes above the town and are enclosed within 12th-century walls. The UNESCO World Heritage–listed Convento de Cristo is a stony expression of magnificence, founded in 1160 by Gualdim Pais. It has chapels, cloisters and choirs in diverging styles, added over the centuries by successive kings and Grand Masters."
"Although a small town, Tomar plays a large role in a very important stage of Portuguese history, with links to the Knights Templar and the Discoveries, and remains an attractive and interesting place to visit."
"We came back to the Center of Portugal to the legendary town of the Knights Templar to get lost in the Covento de Cristo. This Unesco World Heritage site is the highlight of my trip to Portugal."
"This place is quite lodge and must cater to large groups. There were just three of us, and no large groups were present so we did not see all of the facilities (such as the chapel). The location is great being right behind the shrine (5 minute walk). Everything was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing us with a map of the shrine area, hours of their restaurant, etc. We had breakfast here, and it was good (standard European buffet). We could not get the AC to work in the room, but the window was operable, so we were fine. The only odd thing was how empty it was. We were one of the few rooms being occupied. The only time we saw anyone else was at breakfast (there were about a dozen of us total). It just gave it a slightly eerie feeling. The lights in the corridors were on motion detectors so they would be dark when you opened a door. However, it was quiet and clean. I guess because it was empty we got a slight upgrade on our room which was great.""Very clean room and great staff. The breakfast was simple but very good. Great location, and within walking distance to the Basilica. The hotel has lots of old photographs of the location around the premises which is a good source of knowledge ""Just behind the church, clean and quiet. Very helpful staff and yes rooms are spacious with modern amenities. Not an elaborate Buffet Breakfast but a decent one. I went during off peak time so no complaints."
"At this charming backstreet eatery you can partake in the elegant dining room or the breezy, intimate courtyard below. Speciality, well-presented fish dishes such as dourada grelhada (grilled bream), bife de atum..."
"Calça Perra (website is in Portuguese) is a nice garden restaurant with excellent dishes. It can be a bit pricey though."
