After a disruptive 2020, travelers are looking to get out into nature, sooner rather than later. Last month, VacationHomeRents reviewed the search and click activity of over 1,200 users to understand 2021 travel sentiment.
Reviewing user activity from November 3-17, 2020, the team found a few trends beginning to develop in travel next year:
“We see that travelers are anxious to get out of their homes and escape to vacation homes and cabins out in nature,” according to Allan Jiang, co-founder of VacationHomeRents. “In fact, half of our users are looking to get out within the first two months of 2021, with warm-weather beach destinations in southern Florida and ski destinations like Tahoma along Lake Tahoe being of greatest interest.”
In the middle of this report’s chosen date range, promising news broke of two COVID-19 vaccines. While media coverage gave hope to the travel industry, VacationHomeRents user activity remained unchanged. Given users’ shortened booking window, half were searching travel dates well before a vaccine will be available to the public at large.
