"If you're reading this in time, make this next destination an immediate, top priority. During the first few weeks of July, a dazzling sunflower display explodes at Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area . This seasonal sea of yellow swaying in the breeze is one of Knoxville's most stunning unsung sights."
"A few more Sunflower photos because they are in bloom and looking spectacular right now. You might like to see this Adorable Sunflower and dog photo session"

What makes it great: This park offers a quarry that’s great for paddling, as well as a scenic overlook (one of several) that is just a short walk from the parking area."
"This spot made its RootsRated debut in our 8 Ways to Wile Away the Summer post, but we thought this stunning overlook was well-deserving of an encore. In South Knoxville at 1121 Cherokee Trail, you'll find a dirt parking lot near High Ground Park. Follow the gravel trail that begins in the lot all the way back through the River Bluff Wildlife Area to what is probably the most beautiful view of Knoxville."

"Mellow Mushroom is a favorite for those with special dietary needs with two locations in the Smokies: One in Gatlinburg and one in Pigeon Forge. Special gluten-free pizza offerings include The Ultimate Mellow (basically everything but the kitchen sink, and gluten of course), Mighty Meat, Veg Out, Kosmic Karma and a BYO (build your own) option. A gluten-free brownie is also available if you are able to save room for dessert after all of that pizza."
"There was wax attack at Hexagon Brewing, but we were feeling more of a German beer hall kind of afternoon, so we headed to Schulz Brau first for some hefes.
Next up, it was over to Crafty Bastard where a Cuban food truck and a repurposed radiator repair shop greeted us. This funky and gorgeously open to the second story roof brewery is doing fascinating stuff with their concoctions, with White Arrow Pine Ale being SVV’s favorite and the Barkley Stout being mine."
"World’s Fair Park was the venue of the World’s Fair in 1982 and is now, all these years on, still one of the most loved attractions in Knoxville. The park is made up of grassy knolls, fountains, and paved walking trails, and if you want to come here in the summer months then you are in for a treat. When the weather heats up, you can cool down in the quirky fountains and geysers that are set up here or you can just catch some of the live music events that take place here over holiday periods."
"Smack dab in the middle of downtown, it lends itself to entire day of activities beyond your typical park. The Knoxville Museum of Art is just across the street, and every kid should experience a visit to the top of the Sunsphere while growing up in Knoxville. It’s also not too much trouble to settle your kids into their strollers and wander up to Market Square for a snack and a stroll through Krutch Park too!"
"World’s Fair Park is another fun destination to take a stroll through. The park surrounding the Sunsphere holds the Tennessee Amphitheater (the only other surviving structure in Knoxville from the 1982 World’s Fair), a lake, a sizable splash-pad fountain, and lots of lush green lawn perfect for hosting festivals and events."
