Things to do with Family & kids in Oklahoma City
"A renowned institution of Western art and culture, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, founded in 1955, celebrates the legacy of the American west with a collection of arts and crafts that focuses on the American cowboy, Native American culture, Victorian firearms, frontier military, and rodeos. "Settled by pioneers during the 1889 Land Run, home to former cattle trails and cattle ranches, and the birthplace of countless Western film stars, musicians and entertainers, Oklahoma City is a can’t-miss stop in cowboy country. Witness the saga of the American cowboy come to life at the acclaimed National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and celebrate the city’s proud Western roots. Home to the prestigious Prix de West art exhibition, this internationally-renowned museum inspires visitors with an astonishing array of Western art, American Indian and frontier artifacts and even a fully constructed turn-of-the-century cattle town."

"What is it: Widely regarded as one of the best Asian restaurants in the city, Szechuan Bistro serves traditional Chinese fare that is beloved by locals and tourists alike. Why go: Though you may not immediately associate Oklahoma City with decent Chinese food, one meal at Szechuan Bistro will banish that thought from your brain entirely. Guests can order from one of two menus, one featuring Americanized offerings and the other highlighting authentic dishes."
"I’m cheating on this one as it’s in Edmond, not Oklahoma City and I haven’t actually been there. But it was voted on by my fellow contributors, so it makes the list!. After perusing the website though, I cannot wait to go try their scallops, which is one of my favorite dishes, though near impossible to find in Oklahoma…The side list is impressive and I can’t wait to make a trip to Edmond to try this place out."

It used to be that when we wanted to party like an Oklahoma oil baron, OKC residents would go to the 70s/80s oil exec hot spot Junior’s. However, for those of us that don’t subscribe to the “Drill, Baby, Drill” mindset, Michael’s Grill is slowly taking its place as the rightful owner of the title of best steak in OKC."
"A national chain with locations in more than 30 states, the Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant—a wonderfully unique and interesting experience that is perfect for a date night or group get-together. Make sure you have some time to spare because you can be there for a while with a four-course meal. Choose some that are chef-selected or have even more fun by creating your own."
