"The hills are alive with the sound of clinking beer glasses at this Austrian restaurant on the grounds of Stowe's Trapp Family Lodge, owned by the family whose story inspired "The Sound of Music." After a day of cross-country skiing or mountain biking on the resort's trails, which are open to the public for a fee, you'll love stopping in to sample German-style lagers crafted in the 30,000-square-foot on-site brewery. A wood-fired grill keeps the dining space toasty; long tables encourage mingling. Order a beer flight, and see what pairs best with bratwurst and spätzle and schnitzel."
"The real von Trapp family, from "The Sound of Music”, was a musical troupe that toured the world after their escape from Salzburg, Austria, in 1938. As the family business became lucrative, the von Trapp's purchased a small farmhouse in Stowe and settled down to live amid the mountains yet again. This turned into the Trapp Family Lodge. The trails and outdoor center are open to enjoy and tours are available to take part in. Simply driving though the property and taking in the view is worth the stop to many visitors. Located 58 minutes from our resort."
"The Trapp Family Lodge was once the home of the famous musical von Trappe family, about whom the musical ‘The Sound of Music’ was based. It has an Austrian style that reflects the heritage of the family that once lived in the main lodge. It is now a large resort that is set in 2,500 acres."

"Robert Frost (1874–1963) was America's most renowned and best-loved poet in the mid-20th century. For several years he lived with his family on a farm near Franconia, now known as Frost Place. Many of his best and most famous poems describe life on this farm and the scenery surrounding it, including 'The Road Not Taken' and 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.' The years spent here were some of the most productive and inspired of his life."
"This short (1/2 mile) and easy hike follows a trail alongside the Sterling Falls Gorge in the Sterling Falls Gorge Natural Area. The falls themselves consist of three falls, six cascade sets and eight pools. In summer, a few of the cascades and pools may be hidden by the leafy green foliage of the forest."
"From luxurious mega-resorts to charming bed and breakfast cottages, modern hotels, and cozy Airbnb’s, Stowe has so many incredible hotels to choose from especially around the downtown area. To make your vacation planning a bit easier, here are some of our favorites in Stowe:"
"The first solar-powered brewery in Vermont is Rock Art, an environmentally-conscious micro-brewery and tasting room that highlights original flavors on eight rotating taps. Find your seat in the viewing room to watch the brewing process, or take home a few of the signature 22-ounce bottles with the Kokopelli logo. Some local favorites include the Vermonster barleywine, the Ridge Runner double IPA, and the Sun Rocked IPA – a citrus-packed beer with hints of pine and grapefruit that is the brewery’s first to be made entirely with solar power."
"Rock Art Brewery is one of the Stowe area’s oldest breweries, having opened in 1997. Their most well-known beers are the Ridge Runner Double IPA and Vermonster, both of which are categorized as English Barleywines. This indicates that they have a strong malt flavor and are rich in alcohol."
