The Best New York Itinerary for Visiting NYC on a Budget
"Home to Brooklyn’s biggest playground, Coney Island has been NYC’s most popular tourist attraction since the early 20th century.Located in the southernmost part of Brooklyn, it is the only neighborhood in the city where you’ll find an amusement park, beach and great food all in one place. Lined with historic and memorable attractions, Coney Island’s famous three-mile beach and boardwalk is lined with many attractions. Brooklynites and tourist can count on some fun in the sun with a hot dog from the original Nathan’s Famous or visiting the New York Aquarium and nearby Luna Park."
"Spend a summer day at 107-acre Coney Island Beach and Boardwalk (nycgovparks.org), managed by the NYCDPR. Sandy beaches stretch for three miles, providing plenty of space for visitors to spread out a blanket or build sand castles. Sports enthusiasts may spend the day playing beach volleyball or a game of basketball on the courts."
"Just steps from the subway, this stretch of golden sand is the showpiece of Brooklyn's ocean-side playground. Families set up beach blankets…"
"Technically not in Brooklyn, but so close we are including it is Jacob Riis Park and Beach. Located on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Jacob Riis Park is a beautiful beach parks. It was opened in 1912 and called Seaside Beach, but was renamed after the famous Denmark journalist who migrated to Brooklyn, Jacob Riis who advocated for the creation of this very park."
"Eleven miles east of Long Beach, this 6½-mile-long expanse of white sand is one of the best-known and most popular of Long Island's…"
"Containing over 20,000 prints ranging from the early days of photography all the way up to today, the International Center of Photography Museum is likely to make anyone stop and rethink their many albums of food photos. Explore the origins of the photo, and see how technology has changed the way we take and share photos over the last century and beyond. And not a hashtag in sight, we hope."
"Despite only moving here in 2017 it’ll be off again soon, moving to the Essex Crossing development. It’s a popular museum which showcases works from all genres of photography. The reason for the constant moving is the never-ending growth of valuable pieces to display."
"You are now in Queens, known for its creative street nomenclature and only a handful of galleries, but a variety of other art institutions such as SculptureCenter. Housed in a two-floor, brick, garage-like structure, it is an enormous exhibition space perfect for massive works of art. Recent examples include Ursula von Rydingsvard's monumental cedar reliefs and sculptures."
"Prospect Park From the cafe, we walked for about 15 minutes to the Borough Hall subway station and took the 4 Train for four stops to Grand Army Plaza 2/3. Exiting the station, we walked for a few minutes to the Grand Army Plaza, which is home to the majestic Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch. This memorial commemorates the Union Army who fought to keep the collective states united during the American Civil War. We took some great drone shots of this iconic arch."
"Our next monumental and historic building and thing to do in Brooklyn is Brooklyn Borough Hall, the oldest public building in the borough. This beautiful Greek revival building was the original City Hall and a National Registered Historic Place. Brooklyn was its own city until 1898 after Brooklyn was incorporated as a part of New York City the City Hall changed its name to Brooklyn Borough Hall."
"One of the newest things to do in Brooklyn when it comes to parks is Domino Park, located on Williamsburg’s waterfront along the East River near the Williamsburg Bridge. Named after the former Domino Sugar Refinery manufacturer that used to be at this site, this park still has old factory equipment on display. Designed by the same designer who was responsible for the popular High Line in Manhattan, Domino Park has quickly gained popularity despite its youthful age thanks to its location and is easily one of the best Williamsburg photography locations."
"The park's address is 15 River Street, and it can be entered on Kent Avenue at South 5th Street, South 3rd Street, or Grand Street. Domino Park is one of my favorite new NYC parks (it opened in 2018), and it's a must see if you're visiting Williamsburg. The park was built on an abandoned Domino Sugar Factory site, and there are many interesting industrial artifacts scattered throughout it."
"Domino Park is a five-acre oasis on the edge of the always-hip neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Hipsters flock to it on weekends for fish tacos and great views; local families head straight to the playground. Those who love the feel of Williamsburg will love this as a vibrant addition to the scene."
"Gehry's unique style is on view at New York by Gehry in Lower Manhattan, New York City.|© Edi Chen / Alamy Stock Photo. The skyscraper on 8 Spruce Street was architect Frank Gehry‘s first commissioned residential building in New York, his first skyscraper, and, for a while after it opened in 2011, the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere at 76 stories and 870 feet. The architect is famous for his sculptural, spectacular designs that often play with shapes, and though New York by Gehry isn’t one of his flashiest designs, the skyscraper in the Financial District with its undulating facade is pure Gehry."
"Characterized by its other-worldly aesthetic, New York by Gehry is one of the tallest residential buildings in the world, and one of the most striking skyscrapers in the Manhattan skyline. Designed by Frank Gehry, New York by Gehry appears alive with fluid waves of silver. Photograph the building’s façades at different times of day for comparative visual perspectives."
"For a unique outdoor dining experience that’s perfect for a special occasion, head to Osamil’s “Pojangmacha,” a nod to Korea’s outdoor dining set-ups from the late ’80s. Featuring a small red hut with open windows and doors for cross-ventilation, the restaurant’s full menu is available, with favorites such as the whole fried chicken that’s served with pickled vegetables and a signature dipping sauce."
